Alfred Hitchcock & Anthony Perkins on the set of “Psycho” (1960)
In the mid 1960s Stanley Kubrick hired illustrator Brian Sanders to record the filming of 2001: A Space Odyssey. Sanders had free reign over most of the set and back stage. What he produced was a fascinating and unique record of the filming process. Sanders’ artist’s eye view illuminates the work and the vision of one of the greatest Science Fiction films to date. The illustrations encapsulate the contradictions of the film world from awe inspiring scenes to surreal, 4th wall breaking moments - the end of a film set, or astronauts on office chairs.
